I read this thread :
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...35?lnk=gst&q=equation&rnum=4#5eefbe16ae0b5735
and also some others,
My problem is quite similar, there is only one difference.

I am trying to write a equation in word but when i go to
menu>insert>object...
and there is no Equation editor!

there are only 6 items, from Microsoft Excel Chart to Microsoft Word
Picture,

So I went to Library folder and the Preferences, and realized that
there is no Microsoft folder or com.microsoft... files in there!
actually I searched all my computer and nothing... there is no such
files.
So there is nothing to delete, but at the same time... how can Word run
correctly without this preferences folder?
Can Any one kyndly tell me what is my problem? Should I reinstall Word
?
Please help Me

Note that I am using Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac version (061213)
My computer is Intel Core Duo, ... (this problem can have any
relation with my processor? because son programs don't run on Intel
Mac...)

Hello Nacho -

The response in the link you supplied is, well... Sending you on a wild
goose chase :) I don't think this has anything to do with preferences. Even
if it does, that's not where they would be located.

First, go to your Applications>MS Office 2004>Office folder & see if
Equation Editor is listed there. If it *is* make sure you have Office fully
updated, repair permissions & restart to see if it shows up in the
Insert>Object dialog. Should that not fix it post back.

My guess, however, is that EQ Ed *isn't* installed - IIRC, it doesn't get
installed in a standard installation. You have to do a custom install to
include it. But you don't need to reinstall Office in order to add it later.
Take a look in Word Help at the topic <Install individual components of
Microsoft Office> in order to add it to your current installation.

Hi Mike and Nacho,

Equation Editor is a "light" version of MathType, which is an application
you can purchase.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble, I think, if you go to the MathType
web site and download and install a trial version of MathType.
http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/trial.asp

You won't hurt anything by installing MathType. After 30 days it reverts to
the regular equation editor, so you can save all those other steps about
having to run the Office Installer, updating, etc.

As a bonus you get a free font that will continue to work after the free
trial is over.

The MathType folks are hoping you will be so happy with MathType that you
will gladly pay for the full version, but they are nice enough to let you
keep running with Equation Editor after 30 days - and they don't bother you
about it.
