Word 2004 freezes on launch and during operation

On launch Word 2004 freezes, although it comes back to life some 60 seconds
later, only to work and then freeze again. I'm running OS 10.3.8

I have created another user and it works 100% OK with Word.

Reading through the support threads, I presume there is a permission problem
with a certain file, but I am having real problem tracking this down.

Any ideas please?

Migrate into the other user. I do this a lot - don't try to solve weird
problems like this, just run away from them. :) m.

Also there may be some interaction with Entourage if you use that. Do you
have an inordinate amount of Contacts? We've heard from customers that
sometimes when you have many (order of 5,000+) contacts in your Addressbook
in Entourage Word will be slow to boot.

Your new user won't have the same Entourage DB thus that might be the issue.
