WORD 2004 HANGING

HI,

I JUST GOT A MACBOOK AND INSTALLED MAC OFFICE 2004, PROGRAMS WERE RUNNING FINE INITIALLY, BUT AFTER A FEW WEEKS I'VE NOTICED THAT WORD TENDS TO HANG EVERY TIME I TRY TO OPEN A NEW FILE USING 'OPEN OTHER' AFTER CLICKING THE WORD ICON ON MY DESKTOP.

A NEW WINDOW OPENS, BUT NOTHING IS DISPLAYED AND IT HANGS TILL I HAVE TO USE FORCE QUIT TO SHUT IT DOWN.

ANY ADVICES WOULD HELP....
