word 2004 launching at MacBook startup - but not in startup folder

Word 2004 is launching whenever my dad's MacBook is started up, but
neither the app nor any word doc is in any startup items folder. What
could be causing this? I'm very puzzled. FWIW, Office 2004 had been
installed without removing the Office 2004 trial/demo version (which
has since been simply trashed).
