Word 2004 - loss of footer, and lousy PDF maker

S

Solihin Thom

Goodness, not only did I have a problem with printing the doc as a PDF in
the last version, but this version loses my even footers!! I go back into Office
01 and reformat and then pull it up on the brand new - bought today - '04 -
and on PDF'ing have lost the footer again only on evens.

Then it also is very finickity on margins - cutting off evens on the left hand
margin [outside] but not on the right hand [odd pages] when it prints as
aPDF. Should I save as aPS file and then let distiller distill?

Buggy program, why did I invest yet again...

Any suggestions?
Thanks in lieu of

Without testing the free 30-day Test Drive first? That always makes me
wonder too.

It will probably help others help you if you specify whether you are using
Adobe Acrobat or the PDF maker that is built into OS X, and version numbers
for both.

PDFmaker is that little window block that has the acrobat symbol.

If you have Acrobat before Office, Then it isn't installed. If the
reverse is true. The Acrobat installs it. And its a PIA to get rid of.

PDFmaker "is" installed by Acrobat and is not part of the OS.

What is part of the OS is the Quartz engine which use Adobe Acrobat
Technology to allow you to create pdf';s from the print menu. But if
acrobat or reader is not installed then PDFMaker doesn't show up.
