Word 2004 Mac crashed and lost the last paragraph I typed

Is there any way I can recover this file? The auto recover feature
activated the next time I opened Word. I copied the lost paragraph,
but it crashed again when I tried to save. When I opened Word the
second time, no auto recover feature was activated. How can I retrieve
my lost paragraph?

Your help is greatly appreciated,

I can see it from here. It was rubbish. Improper use of passive voice
and subjunctive.
Re-write it.

Damn it Jim, you had the wretched thing on your clipboard and you threw
it away.

Now you want 3rd party advice on a single missing paragraph after a
double crash on what looks like a corrupt document?

This is cargo cult computing. Do get a life.

If you copied it, it may still be on your clipboard. Otherwise, sorry.
AutoRecover only kicks in at a certain time, so there may not have been
enough time for it to create a new recovery file. You could look in
HomeUserNameAccount/Document/Microsoft User Data and see if the first
Auto-Recovery file got trapped there.

If this doc is crashing consistently, try the corrupt doc fixes on it:
