word 2004 not letting me type !

hi

i have a ibook g4 with OS X ... i open word mac 2004 and i cannot type
anything ! i can cut and paste but if i type nothing happens ..i can typa
in other applications ...just word ...any help

Good to know that you can type in other applications, that confirms the
problem is really with Word and not your keyboard, which it could have
been from your first post.

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does,
post back. The most common culprit is a corrupted Normal template or
damaged Preferences file, so you might try those first.

i tried the standard troublrshooting features ..no go ... i open a new
document with word and cannot type anything ...i can paste but that's it
...any suggestions ?
