Word 2004 not responding after wake-up over night.

I am running Word 2004 11.2 which I reinstalled after updating to OS
10.4.2 on 1 GB RAM, PB 1.33 MHz. Also Menustrip which hides all
backgrounded but running apps. and Keyboard Maestro which enables me to
cycle through all open apps but in order of most recent use.

I have noticed this recurring problem. Whenever I leave my PB on
overnight (I have it set to sleep after an hour), and if I have Word
2004 office running in the background (i.e. hidden but active), on
waking and cycling through to make it the front and active app and
attempting to page down the doc, it regularly hangs (spinning beach
ball) and has to be force quit. The only thing I can think of is that
when the PB runs its daily/weekly maintenance (around 3 am right?)
something gets caught. Entourage, which I also leave open and
backgrounded, is fine.

Many thanks

I have had the same problem. Mine would also freeze when I would try
and save. I got this information off another site and thought I would
pass it on. Read the information below. It worked well for me. I
hope this helps.

I am assuming you have the latest version of Office for the Mac. There
is a update app included with Office, should be in your utilizes
folder.

One of the solutions can be to trash the Word Plist and preferences.

com.miscrosoft.Word.plist <---file is located here:
/Users/YOURNAME/library/Preferences

com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist <----file is located here:
/Users/cjm/Library/Preferences/Microsoft

Trash these files while Word is closed, and empty the trash. Logout and

back in or a reboot. Then open Word. Word will write these files again.

This normally solves frequent crash problems. Let me know how this
works out. Thanxs for using OSX support.
