Word 2004 not showing live word count

B

Bob Liparulo

I have the live word count check box on in the View preferences and it works
for most documents, but not for a document that contains about 140,000
words. It stopped working (showing the count) at about 80,000 words. Any
idea why? Thanks - Bob

PS: Matt: Thank you for the advice on showing section numbers. Worked great.

Hey Bob,

Live Word Count stops functioning after 99,999 Words. Regular Word Count is
still fine though, which you can easily access by clicking on the Live Word
Count section of the Status Bar.

Thanks

Do you really, truly need it to be live? Maybe 100,000 is indeed over its
limit. In any case it slows Word down. I suggest turning it off, then go to
Tools/Word Count to check. What does it show for the current doc which you
think is c140,000. Is it accurate?
