Word 2004: Occasional strange window display

T

trocklin

From time to time, on opening a file or starting a new document, I'll
get a normal looking window with a small window embedded in the upper
left corner. The embedded window has scroll bars, but can't be re-
sized.

Quitting Word and starting it again is the only way I've found to fix
it. When I do that, the next window that I open is as wide as the
embedded window was, but full height and re-sizeable. Any suggestions?

TIA

Probably a bad Normal Template:

See here:

If not, it's bad preferences. See here:

Cheers
