Word 2004-page up/down buttons

In the bottom right corner of Word 2004 are "page up" and "page down"
buttons. If you do a "find" in any given document, it changes these buttons
to "next find/go to". I know you can use the "select browse object" button
to reset these buttons back to the default "page up" and "page down"
functions, but is there any way to stop Word from automatically reassigning
these buttons? My client only ever uses them for "page up" and "page down",
so it's darn annoying when Word tries to change their behavior.

Hi Chris-

AFAIK there is no way to prevent this "convenience" from resetting to
the last used Browse feature. The only way I can suggest to work around
it is to use the Page Up/Down keys. If you're not aware, you can also
use the Cmd key with them to jump from page to page rather than window
to window. If you do this once after using Find, GoTo, etc., it resets
the Browse Object button to browse by page.

Hope this si useful |:>)

This is what Word gives you keyboard shortcuts for. All actions in Word
can be customized with their own keyboard shortcut. Also you can
customize toolbars, so if your client really really wants to push a
button just to page up and page down, you can make a couple of buttons
in a toolbar for your client. m.
