SInce Word Mac 98, I have had to use the "use printer metrics" option
to format standard courier font letters avoid expansion or kerning
problem caused by differences between MAC fonts and MS fonts . There
are some items in MIcrosoft history of papers that explain the
differece: in short, mac courier is MS new courier, and they are not
the same. So, to avoid wrong line and character spacing, I simply
checked the printer metrics option, and this fixed it. However, in
Word 2004, it seems the printer metrics feature has been cut or
changed, and it no longer works. I can get partial fix by using exact
line spacing at 12, but it it not the same (and it often has to be
redone for each document.). People at MS seemed to say this was now a
known problem, which seems to mean they don't intend to fix it. Any
one have any ideas on this?
