Could someone please tell me how to disable the drop down horizontal ruler? I
have scoured the help file and this newsgroup but cannot find an answer. I
know I did it before because it worked but for the life of me I can't figure
out how to do it again. I had to re-install Word 2004 last night. I was
having too many "Application not responding" freezes.

Thanks.

I *think* but am not totally sure, that if you have checked "provide
feedback with animation" in Word>Preferences>General, *and* you turn off the
ruler in View>Ruler, you will get a dropdown ruler whenever you slide the
cursor up to the top. I didn't test long enough to figure out whether
breaking just one of those conditions was sufficient to disable.

Daiya, thank you very much for your help. That was exactly the problem, I
have resolved it, made a note of it and for that I thank you very much. It's
