Word 2004 Save without document security

T

Tom Bloss

I am using Word 2004 on a G5 Mac OS 10.4 and/or 10.5,(same problem in either
system) saving to a different Mac G4 using OS 10.4 and Word X. Word 2004
insists on applying document security so that the person accessing the
document from the G4 Mac has "read only" rights. I can change the rights but
I cannot shut off the application of the rights. I would rather that all
documents be "read/write" for both users. Word's preference settings don't
seem to allow me to turn this feature off.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Tom:

It's not "Word" that's doing it, it's Apple OS X.

You need to give the logged in user read/write access to the folder on the
computer that is storing the file.

Sorry: I do not remember how to do this: if nobody else does, you may wish
to ask again in the Apple forums.

Cheers

Select the folder in Finder. Type CMD-i. Click the lock icon and enter
your password. Click the + button to add a user. Set permissions as you
like.
