Word 2004 Saving Text with Line Breaks problem

Michael Farringdon

For the last 14 years I have used various WORDs from 5.1 on through
WORD X and now WORD 2004--all on Macs. Often I want my WORD output to
be opened by another program. For this, I have always Saved As Text
Only with Line Breaks. With the latest WORD 2004 I'm having problems
in that blank lines and end-of-file seem to be treated differently
than in earlier versions of WORD. Can anyone suggest how I can Save
As in WORD 2004 so that my files appear as they did under earlier
versions?

Try "Text Only With Line Breaks (MSDOS)"

That will use 0D0A (carriage return and new line) at the end of each line
instead of the unix standard which is new line only. Note: It will also
use the Extended ANSI character set instead of the Mac Extended character
set, which should not worry you providing the receiving application can cope
with ANSI.

That should do it.

Cheers

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried it but, unfortunately, it
doesn't work for me.

Thanks anyway,

Michael F.
