Word 2004/Shared Libraries & 10.4.6

On a DP 800, I used the 10.4.6 PPC Combo version and installed it from
a different volume. All was (apparently) normal.

But then, upon launching M$ Word (2004) for the first time, I got an
alert that: "MS Word cannot load the MS Office shared libraries. The
files may have been moved from their original locations." FWIW, I know
these files have not been moved.

On subsequent relaunches of Word, no such alert occurs and all appears
normal. I think I have access to the shared libraries, but don't know
for sure.

What can I do to verify that I do indeed have access to the shared
libraries, or, is the error alert I received just a consequence of
installing 10.4.6?

That's not recommended by Apple. The fiels are usually installed
properly, but I'm not sure Permissions and receipts are all set the way
they should. If I were you, I'd remove the 10.4.6 update receipt from
/Library/Receipts and then install the same combo updater running from
the proper volume all over. After that, use Disk Utility to repair
Permissions since I'm not sure that's even sufficient to correct the
potential permissions issues.

Thanks for the reply & suggestion. I did as you recommended and all
seems normal/routine.

But if I did have a (hidden) "Shared Libraries" problem, is there a way
to check/test for that?

The only problem I can thinkof with the shared library would be a
Permission issue. If you really really want to make sure everything is
as clean as can be, use the unsintaller to uninstall Office (make sure
you back up all personalizations, prefs, templates - including the
Normal template) and reinstall Office from scratch. Apply all the
updates and everything should be nice and clean again,

Since everything continues to be normal, I'll postpone doing an Office
reinstall. I was just just hoping there was an easy way to determine if
that feature (Shared Library) is working or not.

Still, my many thanks!
