Word 2004 won't network-fax to Brother MFC-7820N, but Entouragewill

C

Christopher Ames

I am using Office 2004 on Tiger (10.4.2). We use a Brother MFC-7820N,
attached to the network. Using the CUPS driver (default with
Rendezvous/Bonjour), Entourage can utilize the network faxing option,
accessed from within the Print dialog. Safari and Excel can also do this.
Word, however, greys-out the fax number input fields and thus won't fax.
Any solutions? Spoke to Brother tech support, and this one was new to them.

I am having the exact same problem with MSWord 2004 (Mac) and my
Brother MFC-8840D. I can fax to the printer with every other
application other than MS Word. When I try to print in MS Word, the
fax # and input fields are greyed out. Please let me know if you find
a solution.

Thanks!

If you are technically inclined, search the Internet for the GIMP Print
driver. You will probably find that you can get that to work with your
Brother printer.

And stay on Brother's case: they need to supply a new driver.

We won't necessarily know in here if they do: but if you email their Tech
Support, they may agree to email you back when they have it ready.

Cheers
