Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel hello there,

can open all charts in graph with ms word 2003 on windows xp professional.

help very much appreciated. many thanks in advance.

kind regards,

Hi Schiffa:

That means that although the DOCUMENT is in the old format that Word 2004
can read, the GRAPH is in a newer version of MS Graph that does not exist in
Word 2004.

The only work-around is to re-open the file in the newer version of Word,
cut each chart, and paste it back in as a "picture".

When Office 2011 comes out later this year, be first in the shop with your
money in your hand: that will cure a lot of these irritations...

Cheers

thanks John McGhie,

no ways to change some HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ entries? tried to extract the graph chart on my windows machine, but couldn't find how to do it. i'd like to export it as an excel file and then re-import the chart into the word document on my mac.

kind regards,

Sorry, but your Mac does not have a Registry :) And "No" fiddling with the
preferences won't help: you need the required version of MS Graph installed
on the client.

I think if you right-click the chart, it gives you the option to go to the
data: sorry, I don't have Windows running...

Cheers

thanks again.
Sorry, but your Mac does not have a Registry :)
dear me, getting all mixed up here :))

manage to open graph on the pc, but couldn't figure out how to extract it or save it as an excel file. there doesn't seem to be any option such as "save" or "save as" existant. would be easier to "save as" than to copy the file into excel and create a new chart.

cheers

In Word 2003, right-click the chart and choose Chart Object>Edit...

If "Chart Object" does not appear, the object is not an Excel chart, it's a
picture, and the data is not in it.

If Edit appears, choose it, then click Sheet 1. Your data should be in
that.

Hope this helps

hello John McGhie,

it's a graph object which i would like to save as an excel file/graph object. but there is no such option as "save as" (at least i didn't find one in the graph menu). i have to copy the data and paste it into an excel file. it would be much easier if i were able to just save it as an excel file and then reimport this excel file into the word file on the mac.

didn't find any solution.

but thanks anyhow, your help was very much appreciated.

cheers

Hi Schiffa:

You can't save it out as a "Graph Object". You must either save the data
out as a spreadsheet, then re-create the graph on the Mac, or copy the
object and re-paste it in as a "Picture".

The issue you have is that the version of MS Graph on your Mac is two
versions behind the version on the PC.

Sorry!
