Word 2007 APA format

I am a student. I have to do papers using the APA Format which I cannot get
to work properly. It will copy into a document but I cannot type information
in some of the places like the upper right hand corner which should appear on
every page. Also, somehow the page number appeared at the bottom of the page
and I COULD not get it out. I tried deleting footers. I tried every
function I could think of and it would not go away. I had to submit my
document with the number apearing at the bottom. It was verical also.

I purchased 2007 thinking it would be easier to use. That was what I was
told. I am so frustrated with this product. It takes too much time to do a
little 4 page document. Can anyone help me?

Did you try right-clicking the header/footer area and clicking "Edit Header"
or "Edit Footer"?

How did you try deleting the footer? Using a command at the bottom of a
gallery? Manually editing and deleting?

Hi Beth,

Yes, I tried right-clicking the header/footer and clicking edit header. I
tried plain delete. I tried everythink I could think of. I know I am doing
something wrong but can't seem to find out what. Also, I have a difficult
time getting the header closed so I can go on to the body of the document.
In the APA format, there is text and page # that goes on each page. If I put
the page # the text goes away and vise versus. I am told this is supposed to
be a breeze. Not so for me.

Hi Beth,
I know I answered this posting but don't see it on the board. I did right
click and tried to delete. I tried just plain delete. I did everything I
could think of; it would not go away. Also, in the APA format in the header
at the upper right is a title and page # that repeats on each page (the page
number changes to the appropriate #). When I type the title, the # goes away
and vice versa. Also, I have a difficult time getting the header to close so
that I can go to the body of the text. I do not know what I am doing wrong.

Without being able to see the document I'm not sure. But was the document
created in a previous version? If so then the page number might be placed in
a frame. Place the insertion point next to the page number and look for a
frame. Something like a dashed border around the page number. If you see
one, then click the edge of the border and then press Delete.

If you are struggling with deleting/typing over content in the header/footer
then you can recreate it. For example, type the text and then on the Header
& Footer Tools, in the Header & Footer group, click Page Number, point at
Current Position, and then click the a page number from the gallery.

To close the header/footer, either click Close on the contextual Header &
Footer Tools or double-click the body of the document.
