word 2007 autocomplete date

Is there something that has to be done to enable full functionality of the
autocomplete for the date in Word 2007? For some reason it works for
finishing a month, but then after typing a space word doesn't give the option
to autocomplete the entire date, as the help document states that it should.

Help has been wrong about this for several previous versions, so there's no
reason to expect it to be correct now, especially since AutoComplete for
everything *except* dates has been removed from Word 2007.
