word 2007 back to 1997

As I don't have a MS office, my system automatically adopted a restricted
mode, with word 1997 (!). Recently, i've reinstalled the entire system of my
computer and currently have trial access to ms office 2007. However, it will
expire soon and I already get messages like some functions will not saved. I
worry my files I created with restricted ms office will disappear or become
read-only, after the trial expires.
Please help!
Thank you!!!

Unless you had Office 97 on your computer there's no way 1007 reverted to
that. Even then I suspect you misunderstood something. Your files will not
disappear. You will just not be able to do anything except view them after
the trial expires.

The file type I have is MS Office 1997-2003. Not sure which version exactly
that is. The thing is that I don't only need the files as read-only, I habe
to be able to work on them further! I write my master thesis now and can't
afford losing my work written before and during the trial.
Thank you!
