If you are using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton
AutoProtect). See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How
to use Office programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in"
for more information.

This is what I get "Sorry, the page you requested is not available." I found
how to turn the office plugin off and it worked. I appreciate it

Crikey! This is becoming almost the universal solution for all problems in
all versions of Word. I hate to be litigious but can't Norton be pursued for
compensation if it causes such widespread mayhem and loss of professional
time? As for possible signing of a disclaimer, I think the law in Australia
is that this makes no difference. You can't be made so sign away your common
law rights and it is clearly a tort if the use of this product causes
widespread destruction, financial inconvenience or worse. <gets off soapbox>
Any comments anyone?

Hi Aalaan,

While the Symantec-Norton products have had a tendency to be a bit domineering <g> in this case it's a MS bug in the Word 2007
Beta2 Technical Refresh patch updates.

Hi garfield-n-odie

Thanks for your sound advice - but, I will turn the router off whilst using
Word 2007 B2TR

Hi, Big George. As long as you leave Norton AutoProtect enabled,
you should be protected from most viruses. The only thing the
Norton Office Plugin does that Norton AutoProtect doesn't is
check password-protected Office documents for macro viruses. It
would be prudent to use some kind of firewall nowadays, but this
functionality is not provided by either Norton AutoProtect or
Norton Office Plugin.
