Word 2007 Blows Up on Copy/Paste with Heading Style

Hi everyone, I just installed Office SP3 through Win Update yesterday.

Word shows 2007 (12.0.6311.5000) SP1, MSO (12.0.6213.1000).

Starting today, I am getting a lot of abends when I copy/paste a section of
text that contains a Heading style,

The document is also taking longer to open.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why would you install Office SP3 when you are using Office 2007: I am a bit
confused by your problem. I don't know what 'abends' are either.

I reviewed the update history and indeed it was Office 2003 SP3. I didn't
notice that, but why the hell did it offer it in the first place?

I'm reinstalling.

If you upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007, it's possible that you still
have some piece of the old software in place. The Windows Update package doesn't
tell you whether it's updating one file or the whole package.

It's unlikely that the update modified any files that are part of Office 2007,
and in fact the version information you quoted is exactly correct for Office
2007 SP1.

What it might have modified, though, are registry entries. These can be fixed.

In Word 2007, go to Office button > Word Options > Resources and click the
Diagnose button.
