Word 2007 bombing out on selecting Address from Outlook 2007

I have a problem with Word 2007 dying every time I try to use Mailings >
Envelopes. I click on the Address book to open the Outlook 2007 Contacts list
to select a mailing address to use as either a return address or mailing
address and as soon as I select the contact's address, Word bombs out with an
error. I have run the Diagnostics and it can't find anything wrong with
either Word or Outlook. Any ideas?

What error message are you seeing?

What happens if you start Word with the /a switch or in safe mode? (for safe
mode, press Ctrl as Word is starting, then click Yes to the safe mode
prompt)

Just that Microsoft Word has stopped working because of an error. Then looks
for a solution to the problem. No solution is found.

I just tried the feature again today and now it works properly. But I had to
shut down both my internet connection (Firefox) and my email program
(Outlook) before I could get Word to launch without that same generic error
message.

I reinstalled everything from scratch less than a week ago - starting with
the OS so I don't think it could be data corruption. My guess is a probable
program interaction problem that is undocumented. I'm still working on it
myself and would appreciate any help you might give.

Scott,

I just joined Microsoft discussions and read your post. There is another
post that also describes this probIem titled "Several Word 2007 Problems". I
have had the same issues with Word 2007 and Outlook 2007 as you describe
since February. Before I moved to Vista Business and Office 2007, I used
Windows 2000 and Office 2000 for years to print envelopes without any
problems.

Other than this issue, Vista and Office 2007 are working perfectly for me.
Wish I could offer a fix, but I have not found one. My work around is to cut
and paste the name and address from Outlook 2007 to the envelope dialog box
in Word 2007. If I try to select directly from my contact list in Outlook,
Word will crash most (but not all) the time.

The last post on this thread was in August 07. I'm having the same problem
and now it is October 07. Has anyone found a fix for it yet?

today is December 4, 2007 and I've tried all the fixes I could find her and
no, I still can't get Word 2007 to print an envelope with an address from
Outlook without Word going down every time - if only we ould go back to XP
and Office 2003 which worked great

I have applied SP1 for Office 2007, and very much hoped that this would solve
the problem we are discussing in this thread. However, Word 2007 still
crashes when I try to use an address from Outlook 2007. Oh wel.....

I'm also having same problem. I had no problems with Word 2002 using Outlook
2002 contacts ... but .... trying to use Outlook 2007 contacts in Word 2007
(with Vista 32 home premium) causes Word 2007 to close (crash) with no error
messages. I thought the problem might be associated with converting my old
..pst file into 2007 perferred format, but when I tested with a "new" contact
Word crashed the same. I'm all up-to-date with updates, and have no issues
when I ran "diagnostics".

I have been having this problem for about 30 to 60 days but prior this
feature was working. If anyone is monitoring this threas, has a fix been
found.

Where is Microsoft when you need them. It would just gall me if i had to pay
them to fix their problem.

This is still an issue! Address Book worked fine in Word/Outlook 2003.
Macrobutton work-arounds produce the same crash/close/restore documents
sequence.

Office products should work perfectly together. MS Office Team, figure it
out for us.
