Word 2007 checklist

I continue to have some users out of 20-some identical new (w/ XP not Vista)
machines who simply cannot use Word 2007 because of frequent lockups which
occur randomly while typing new documents, editing existing documents with
random frequency.
--I did the service pak
--I have redone the normal template several times
--Removed all add-ins
--Bought brand new printers and installed the brand new drivers on local
drives.
--Ran the useless Office diagnostics program
--Did the data to olddata registry fix
--Searched the event viewer in vain for info other than generic "application
failed" record.
--did a reinstall

Mostly I really need to know why this keeps happening to these users. I
have wasted many hours and now feel and look stupid. (I am also the guy who
talked these folks into buying Office 2007--thanks a pantload ,Microsoft!!)

Please refer me to some comprehensive resource for all the known reasons
this product goes bad in this way. In the past with Word 2003, there was an
error code or a pattern that made answers easy to find and the Microsoft
Knowledgebase useful. This amorphous failure is resistant to that kind of
help.
(BTW: Is it true that Microsoft is pulling that info back to make us pay for
it via paid support fees?)

Get some of the 'problem' users to run Word in Safe Mode and see if it is
stable in that mode (note this is not a solution, only a diagnostics check).
From Start Run (Winkey+R) type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word opens in Safe Mode. Get them to test and see if it
still crashes.
