Word 2007 "Citations & bibliography"

Does anyone know why my "Citations & bibliography" options would be
unavailable “grayed out†in Word 2007. It is the case in both new documents
and documents where I had previously used the feature.

Have you been able to find an answer on this besides re-installing word? I am
running into the same problem.
