Word 2007 COM AddIn Problem

Pat Garard

G'Day All,

Vista HP with 3 standard users.
Office 2007 Pro.

A COM AddIn has been giving problems - vendor promises solution.

When Word offered to disable the AddIn, one IDIOT user (me) accepted.

The AddIn now appears in the disabled AddIn list.

Trying to re-enable it gives "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed".

How may I recover the AddIn (and my self-esteem)?

I'm pleased you got there. I was about to suggest that you could redeem your
self-esteem by 'blaming Microsoft'!

Hi Terry,

There is a 'Word Help Topic' for Office 2007 AddIns.

It poses the (link) question "What do I do ... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ...?

The linked answer says:
'If Outlook is running, then ... Task Manager ... yada yada ...
From the QAT run Outlook as Administrator ... yada ... yada ...
:
'

After recovering from THAT piece of misdirection, resolving the issue in
Word was easy.

Of course the misdirection is fixed in Windows 7 - no QAT!!

Regards,

Pat
