Word 2007 compatibility issue

I have Office 2007 installed on my main desktop computer, and Office
2003 installed on my older laptop. When I save a document in Word 2007
using the Office 97-2003 (.doc) compatibility mode and then try and
open it in Word 2003 I get strange errors. Word 2003 re-formats the
document strangly, will randomly show/not show the second page in the
document, puts text on top of text, etc. This does not seem to be a
problem with just the Word 2003 install on my laptop, as I've notice
this problem trying to open the document on other computers with Word
2003. Any idea what causes the compatibility problems?
