Word 2007 Crash

B

Berly

When I open a file, I can either see it, but only move around it with
arrows... no editing capabilities or sometimes, I can't even see the content
just the blank blue screen of the application!

When I can see the content of the file, the scroll bars on the main document
interface, and the "outlook bar" on such
pages as the options pages are frozen.

They "light up" as my mouse moves over them, but they fail to respond to
mouse clicks, and cannot be selected or activated.

In the case of the tools at the top, I can tab over to it, but even the
keyboard is unable to get it to do anything - ie if I click up / down arrows,
no other "button" is selected. Clicking on other buttons is equally useless.

Again, the controls themselves appear "enabled" and respond passively to the
mouse hovering. But I cannot interact with them at all, which makes Word
2007 essentially useless.

When I exit Word 2007, then it crashes and restarts itself... which will
crash when I close that instance down, ad nauseam (I have to cancel it when
it tries to restart or this will go on forever).

Help!!!

Hi Berly,

Assuming that you're not using an expired trial edition, after restarrting the PC do you get the same result if you start Word in
safe mode (holding ctrl key when starting Word 2007) or using Start=>Run

Winword.exe /A

Even without restarting the PC, starting Word 2007 in safe mode gives me full
control and access to editing tools...

I did activate the license and it is a full version of Office 2007, business
edition... what's going on? And thank you for the feedback so far!
