Word 2007 crashes when emailing document

N

Nigel

Everytime I try to email a document from within Word 2007, the program allows
me to choose an email address from my address book, but always crashes when I
try to send the email.

It then reports an error message to Microsoft, recovers the document and
restarts. I've running diagnostics and no problems are found.

Using Office 2007 Home & Student Edition and Outlook Express.

Thanks

.... I'm having the same issue in Word 2007 on a Windows Vista machine with
Windows Mail as my email client. Someone from Micorsoft s calling me back
tomorrow about this. It seesm to be a gigantic bug in the program.

Monte writes: The solution, for a Vista machine, is to buy install Outlook
2007. That is the only solution according to my 3 sessions with (the very
polite) Microsoft support person, Ravi. Oh, you can send a Word 2007
document (.docx) as an attachment, but that is it. To make sure you can do
that follow the steps in this support document:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918792 --- This article contains information
about how to modify the registry.

So essentially: • In older versions of Word, one was able to send a Word
document as an email - even if Outlook Express was you default mail client.
• In Word 2007, in both Vista and XP-SP2, if your Office 2007 suite did not
include Outlook 2007, you will not be able to send a Word document as an
email - even via Windows Mail (the Vista replacement for Outlook Express)

Microsoft people, prove me wrong!

I'm still hoping that the servicepacks for Vista and Off2k7 are going to
resolve the problem. It is definitely a big mistake to remove this
functionality.
