word 2007 crashes when opening word document in outlook

everytime I open a word document attached to an email word crashes when
opening and cannot recover. If I open word first after saving the document to
my hard disk it works fine. Once word crashes I must reboot to use word
again. Anybody have a solution. All updates have been applied to my Vista
ultimate and office except SP! for vista since I have 2 drivers that are not
yet compatible with Vista SP1
