Word 2007 crashing

Since Microsoft update on 8/14 word has encountered problems on opening and
needed to close. Ran office diagnostic found no problems, retarted computer
it did work but problem did reoccur restart again cured it.

Not sure what else to do, any ideas. Initially had problem with Excel also
but not after restart all other Office programs working.

Appreciate any ideas.

I am having a similar issue. When I try and close Word it says a problem has
been encountered and checks for a solution. I run Office diagnostics and it
says there is a fix. So I go to the link it gives and it says that I need to
download SP1, but this is already downloaded. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled Office and am still having a problem.

So I tried the fix with the changing the template but my computer does not
find a template. Other suggestions?

If you are referring to renaming normal.dotm, note that the file is in a
hidden folder, which means you have to display hidden folders (via the
Windows settings) in order to see it.

Appreciate info, Word has been opening without problem for two days. I will
utilize suggestion should problem reoccur.

So it "healed" on its own? Well, that's a new one.
