Whever I open a Word document the document will open but I have to wait and
cannot click on anything until Word finishes doing its thing--counting the
number of characters in the document. When it is finished, the file name
followed by a colon and the number of characters appears on the status bar
followed by "(an approximate value)." Here is an example: "File Name:______
Characters (an approximate value)." I do not have character counting or
anything like that enabled and no matter what I have tried, I cannot open a
Word document without this happening. The delay is annoying and time
consuming, especially when working on 30 individual monthly reports. Can
anyone tell me how to turn this annoyance off? I really don't care how many
characters are in my documents/reports. My company's IT team could not come
up with a solution either.
Thanks for your help.
