Word 2007 docs not able to be read as attachment

I have Office 2007 and have been creating documents to send as attachments to
other parties via email. On 2 occasions now I have had the other party come
back and say they ahve not been able to open the attachment. It appears to be
saving as .docx instead of just .doc - the only way I have been able to get
the document to the other party is to print it, scan it then re-send as a
..jpg - very annoying. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Hi Sue,

MS Office 2007 uses new file formats. You can use Office Button=>Save As and choose the Word 97-2003 document for saving in the
legacy/classic file format to send to other folks, or you can use the MS Save As PDF add in to send the documents in PDF format (if
they're only go to read rather than edit them).

MS has also made available for folks who have Word 2000, 2002 and 2003 the MS Office 2007 compatibility pack from
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads to add the capability to both read and save in the Office 2007 document formats.
