i have search everywhere for a solution, but all i see are more people having
the exact same problem and hardly any satisfactory answers.
i will be working on a word 2007 document, saving periodically as i go.
then, all of a sudden when i go to save again, i am informed that i have to
"save as" since the document i am working with is read-only. i didn't change
to read-only. it did it on its own.
i am saving the document to my local hard drive. i am the only one working
on this document. i created it from scratch, so it never was read-only to
begin with.
i also use symantec antivirus and have read that is it possible that it is
causing my document to go into read-only mode while it is being scanned.
however, i can't disable my anti-virus software, so that so-called solution
is out the window. i have also read about some "Allow background saves"
checkbox in word's save options that can be unchecked, but i have yet to
locate this mysterios checkbox.
my guess is that this question will go just as abandoned and unanswered as
all the other questions i've seen addressing the same issue. if you know how
to resolve this, please help.
