I have a Word 2007 document (docx) that I received in MS Outlook and
in Gmail. I open the document in Word 2007 and it is protected. I
click the Developer tab | Protect Document in the Protect group. I
click on Stop Protection in the task pane in the lower right. I am
asked for a password to unprotect it. If I click on OK without typing
a password. Nothing happens - it is still protected, and I get the
message "The password is incorrect. I know the person that sent it
and it has no password. It doesn't matter whether I open the document
from Outlook or Gmail. Same results.
To unprotect the file, I have to save the document as Word 97-2003,
close the document, re-open it and do the same unprotect steps and it
allows me to unprotect it. I thnk that is very strange.
Anyone know why this is happening?
