Word 2007 documents frozen

JN

I am using Word 2007 on a Vista machine. It just broke. I can open
documents but cannot edit them. If I create a new document, I can type and
do CR, but can not place my cursor anywhere or use the scroll bar.

I was going to re-install using the 2007 disc but that also has a problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you left Word running whilst the latest updates were installed.
You need to run Regedit and delete the data key.

Run Regedit and navigate to the Word Data Key and whilst DATA is select,
press your DELETE button. Word will generate a new key when it is restarted.

Terry,
Thank you for your goodwill spirit in providing this kind of extremely
helpful, invaluable information for Word users here on this site. I could
have almost cried with relief when I realized this simple fix really worked
and I would not lose time getting an assignment completed for a client (I am
self-employed). You are a rare and gracious human being. Humbly yours ...
