Word 2007 "doesn't work" and shuts down/restarts

Since the last round of Windows updates (Vista) my Word 2007 program refuses
to open word documents from attachments in mail programs (Word opens,
document does not). When existing documents are opened, they also do not
accept changes. Cursor stays blinking in top left corner even though mouse
clicks in various parts of the document. New documents are the same: once
something has been typed, it cannot be touched or altered again eventhough
the mouse is clicking, dragging and whatever (and works in other non- Office
places).
Have tried "repair Office" and also Office Diagnostics but nothing has
helped and nothing worong was found.
I keep getting a message that "Office is not working properly and must be
shut down and restarted". After this occurred many times, I now get a message
that Office is not working and will be shut down and I will be notified when
a solution is found!

Help???

I am having similar problems. When I start Word 2007, I get a message saying
Word has stopped working and must be shut down. This happens over and over.
Maybe on the 4th to 5th time it will stay open. Also, when I do a search and
double click on a found file, I get a message saying it can't find the
document and to check my spelling of the location. Jeez, all I did was click
on the link that was given to me by the search, and the file is in the exact
location that the link pointed to in the first place.
I am running Office Enterprise 2007 on Windows Vista Home premium. It takes
so long to get my work done. I am really tired of this. I did the office
diagnostics but it finds no errors, and this happens EVERY day.
And with every time I start Outlook, it says the data file was not closed
properly and must be checked for errors. I did the pst fix, but it worked
once after the fix and as soon as I restarted it, we were back to the same
problem.

I am having the same problem on Vista Business. Word always "stops working"
and shuts down multiple times, and sometimes it will not even start up at
all. If I look in the Performance and Reliability monitor, I find that word
stops responding at least two times per day, often times it is more than
that. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've tried repairing and
uninstalling and reinstalling, neither thing works.

I too have this problem - running Word 2007 on Vista Business. I can not open
any file created on a previous version of Word, Publisher, Excell, etc... I
have trid the "compatibiity" patches offerred at Mocrosoft online, but they
change nothing. I notice that this thread started over a month ago without a
single reply from anyone at microsoft. I suspect that is because they have no
idea of a solution.
