Word 2007 - Edit footer

S

Scott

I would like to edit some old documents created in Word 2003 and could not
find where to check the footer. Basically, I need to update the file name
on the footer as I edit the file name and would like to reflect in the
document. Can someone advise where the feature is located in Word 2007.

Thanks,

Scott

You should insert a { Filename } field in the footer and it will update to
reflect a change in the filename.

If you double click in the footer area of the document (i.e. below the
bottom margin), the Footer pane will open and the Header/Footer tab of the
Ribbon will be activated. If you then click on the Quick Parts item in the
Insert section of that tab, you can then select Field, which will take you
to the Field dialog from which you can select the Filename item to insert
the field mentioned above.
