Regarding the "unavailable" message: If you're using
Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office Plugin that
comes with it (but don't disable Norton AutoProtect). See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

Thank you for your reply, unfortunatly i am not using any antivirus which is
a shame, but any ideas about the new security things in word 2007 would this
stop me opening the file that i encrypted on anyt other machine. The pc i
made this file on is broken and i need to wait for a new psu i am at the
moment trying to open this on my laptop??

If you click on Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs,
do you see any Symantec or Norton security products in the list
of installed programs? If not, then was a Symantec or Norton
security product ever installed on the laptop at any point in
time? Did you encrypt the file using Windows' Encrypted File
System, or did you save the file in Word with a password to open?
Do your laptop and broken computer have the same version of
Word 2007?
