Word 2007 - footnotes and section breaks in conference papers

T

Theresa C.

I saw something similar, but couldn't find this question answered in the
list.

I have a conference paper - it requires a Title and Authors centered at the
top, followed by 2 column text. So far, so good - I enter a continuos
section break and add my text. Everything appears on the same page 1 until
it's full and then continues onto page 2, etc.

The problem arises in that I need a footnote for each author, to contain
contact info for that author. But as soon as I add a footnote to my single
column section, my 2-column section jumps to page two and I have only my
Title, authors, a section break, an EMPTY page, and my footnotes on page 1.
This did not happen in 2003. Is this a new feature or is there a way around
it?

Summary:

Title of Paper (centered, single column)

Author One, Author Two, Author Three (centered, single column, with footnote
for each author)

<insert section break so remainder of paper can be 2 columns>

<First page should have 2 column text and author footnotes at the bottom -
but it becomes empty (except for the title, authors, and footnotes, once I
add the footnotes)>

Thanks!

thank you, Suzanne - the 2nd link had instructions that did the trick - I am
very happy MS still allows this option!
