Word 2007 Form Won't Download From a FrontPage Web Site

I've created a form in Word 2007 that includes text boxes and check boxes
that visitors should be able to download and save from a link to that file
posted on a FrontPage 2003 Web site. When the file is downoaded, it comes in
as some type of zip file. Why is this happening? Go to
http://11e1.gdpkeyboarding.com/Questionnaire.htm and click the link in this
sentence: "Click here to download the Questionnaire."

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The default file format in Word 2007 is .docx, which actually is a sort of
..zip file. You have two alternatives here:

1. Provide instructions telling users to rename the downloaded file from
Filename.zip to Filename.docx and then open it. This will work if all users
have either Word 2007 or the Compatibility Pack.

2. Save the file in Word 97-2003 (*.doc) format. This is probably a better
solution, since it will make it more easily accessible to more users (some
of whom may not have Word 2007 or the Compatibility Pack), and it will also
download as a .doc file and not cause confusion. Since it evidently contains
legacy form fields, I gather that you haven't used Word 2007 content
controls and therefore should be able to save back to the older file format.

Actually, there is a third alternative: configure your server properly.

You will have to add the correct MIME types to your server to handle Office
2007 documents. Just do a google search if you have no idea on how to
configure your server. If you don't have access to the server, mail the
administrators and explain the problem to them.

Thank you, Suzanne. I've never used a form before, so this was quite a
learning experience. Since the people who will be using this form are
beginners, I just decided to remove all form fields and just turn this into a
table. I'm certain anything else would overwhelm them. Seems like there
should be an easier way. Maybe Adobe Acrobat has some type of form creation
that would be simpler. Thank you so much.
