Word 2007 - format object?

T

Tony Murray

Hi all

I need to format an object (actually a visio diagram inserted from file) to
an exact size. For the life of me I can't see how to find the "Format
Object" options that were available from the Format menu in 2003.

My online help and Google mojo has failed me. :-(

Any thoughts?

Tony

Right-click the object. The Format Object command is at the bottom of
the context menu.

Hi Jay

Thanks for responding. MVP John McGhie helped me with this in the end.

I found I did not see the "Format Object" when right-clicking (this being
one of my first thoughts). The reason for this was that I had inserted the
object directly into a table. The only workaround John could find was to
copy the object, paste it into an area outside the table, right-click, format
object and then cut and paste it back into the table.

This only appears to be an issue with inserting objects into tables. If I
insert a picture into a table, I still get the Picture Tools options and can
format to my heart's content. :)

Hi Tony,

Thanks for letting me know about the table connection.

This kind of thing is going to be a continuing headache. In the old
UI, if a specific command was missing from a specific context menu, it
was a matter of a minute or two to add it from the Tools > Customize
dialog. Now you have to do it in VBA, which involves knowing the exact
names of the command and the menu. :-(
