Word 2007 formatting in Compatibility mode differs from prior vers

I'm finding that some documents (.doc) created in Word 2003 do not look the
same when opened in Word 2007 Beta 2. PDF documents "printed" from Word 2003
(Acrobat Pro's document printer) look fine.

The specific problem I've seen so far is text (numbers, one per cell)
wrapping in certain table cells. In Word 2003, the numbers do not wrap. In
Word 2007, the numbers are wrapping even though the cell is clearly (visibly)
wide enough to support the number on one line.

The cells in this column look like they could handle about 10 digits on a
line. The cells are wrapping after 2 digits on the first line in 2007. The
second line then holds 7 digits, and then numbers just start disappearing
from the second line as digits are added.

In particular, I have the number 50.98 in a cell. In Word 2007, it displays
as:

50.
98

If I change the number to 50.9877777, it displays as:

50.
9877777

If I change the number to 50.98777777, it displays as:

50.
8777777

In Word 2003, the number 50.98 shows on 1 line. I don't have Word 2003
installed right now to see what the longer forms look like, although I see
from the PDF version that the slightly longer 659.82 in the cell below this
one showed on one line in 2003.
