Word 2007 - Linked Styles

I am trying to understand the benefits of LINKED STYLES, especially since I'm
trying to "dig deep" into Word 2007 and harness some of its power that has
laid dormant in our office for so long.

My Question: Why would I not always want to create PARAGRAPH STYLES as
LINKED STYLES? Put another way, is there a reason NOT to create a paragraph
style as a LINKED STYLE?

We won't know about the glitches until lots of us start making and using
linked styles. I've seen a few that involve using them but none that concern
their presence. So there doesn't seem to be a reason not to create them. A
case for making them is that the style type apparently can't be changed for
styles in use. You can always disable linked style features by ticking the
box in the styles pane.
