Word 2007 locks while printing

Using XP SP2, had problems with word locking when I try to print.. printers
wont open and printer freezes.. Using HP 7210. Installed Office SP 3 and
problem got worse. Have checked and seem to have updated drivers... I then
have to reboot and sometimes the locked file will print.. But word freezes
and have lost several new and edited documents this way. Sometimes the only
way to break the lock is a cold forced power off boot. Even XP cant close
the file.. (word). Any suggestions about possible conflicts?

Hi John,

It's not clear on what version (or how many versions) of Office you're using. Your subject line mentions Word 2007, but you
mentioned installing Office Service Pack 3, which could be for one of several older editions of Office, but not Office 2007.
