Word 2007 - new/empty document contains macros?

W

Walter Cohen

Weird....when I launch Word 2007 and want to start a new document I always
receive a pop-up warning/error:

"The document contains macros. Macro language support for this application
is disabled. Features requiring VBA are not available. Would you like to
open this document read-only?"

This is just a blank Document1. Why would I be getting this error by just
launching Word? My macro settings for Word are "disable all macros with
notification". More importantly, how do I go about eliminating it?

It could be you have macros in your Normal template, or a global template,
that contains either an AutoNew macro or Document_New macro that is
attempting to run and you don't have VBA installed.

Check Add/Remove Programs and modify the Office installation. In Office
Shared Features do you have Visual Basic for Applications set to Not
Available?

I had the same issue and found out it was being caused by my
installation of Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0. If you have this and
don't need the integration into MS Office, you can do a "change/
modify" on the installation and when you get to the installation
options, mark all of the Office products as "not available". This
cleared my problem right up.
