Word 2007 Not Responding/Cannot Open Document

Word 2007stops working for no reason with the message "Not Responding" and
when I try to open a document on the desktop the error message "Windows
Cannot Find..." comes up. I've noticed many other people in these threads
are having the same problem. Any solutions??? Since this is a common
problem, is Microsoft working on a patch? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. BTW, the problem is happening on my Sony Vaio laptop, but on my
Gateway desktop, Word 2007 seems to run fine. HELP!

I answered your previous thread about this. MS are not working on a patch
for this as I explained in the previous thread that it isn't a Word problem
as such but some third party influence causing this. Adobe, Norton
(Symantec) and many other companies are notorious at writing bad add-ins for
Office and very often, when upgrading to a new version, legacy add-ins are
not compatible. The problem is identifying which add-ins are causing the
symptoms.

Thanks for everyone's advice, but I've finally given up. After a week of
uninstalling every 3rd party extension, including my printer driver, Norton,
Adobe, etc. MS Word 2007 still stops for no reason and won't open saved
documents on the desktop. I just don't have any more time to fight with this
problem anymore.
