Word 2007 'Open' file issue

Starting just last night, I cannot open or save documents from the Word
Office button, the program stops responding. I can save a file picked from
the recent files if I edit it and then just respond to the prompt to save if
I close the document.

I can open files from Windows explorer by double-clicking on the document.
I can open 'Recent Files'.

I have all recent updates to Windows, mine is Home Premium. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Office and the problem remains.

I have not tried all of the other programs in Office but I can open and save
files in Excel from the Office button.

Any suggestions as to the cause of this problem and a solution?

Well, sort of fixed it. Had to use regedit to rename the Data key so a new
one would be created. Still missing some toolbars but will work that out.
Just thought I'd share the fix
