Word 2007 Problem with Mouse Click

Suddenly, I can click my mouse on a menu but clicking within the text of a
new or old document will not move the Insertion Point --- it can only be
moved by the cursor movement keys. Also, clicking on the scroll bars does
not work. I am up-to-date on updatesand have tried to repair MS Office. Has
anyone else experienced this problem?

One fix I can think of is to reinstall Word 2007. However, I bought my HP
Desktop System with Office pre-loaded and do not have the media containing
the software --- and HP tells me my warrenty has expired so they can download
a new copy of Word FOR A FEE.
